Our time in Vancouver may have been brief, just one night, but wow, did this city leave an impression. From picturesque patios to rotating rooftop dinners and cozy morning cafés, we soaked in as much as we could before boarding our cruise. Here’s how we spent a beautifully boundless day in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Lunch at Italina Kitchen: A Garden Hideaway in the City
We kicked off our Vancouver adventure with lunch at Italina Kitchen, and it was honestly love at first bite. This charming restaurant blends cozy elegance with a fresh, garden-like setting. Inside, the warm lighting and stylish decor make it perfect for date nights or relaxed meals with friends. But the real magic? The outdoor patio. Picture a porch-style nook surrounded by lush greenery — it felt like we’d stumbled into a secret garden.
I ordered the salmon Caesar salad, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was some of the best salmon I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, expertly seasoned, and so flavorful I actually finished the entire plate — which almost never happens for me. For dessert, we split the Trio of House-Made Gelato & Sorbet and the sweet ricotta-stuffed cannoli. Not a single complaint. Just pure, creamy, sweet perfection.
Exploring the City: Cobblestones and Charm
Between lunch and dinner, we wandered through the heart of downtown Vancouver, and honestly, I wish we’d had more time. The streets feel like a beautiful blend of historic charm and modern city life. Cobblestone paths, brick storefronts, and colorful hanging flower baskets lined the roads, giving the area a cozy, storybook feel. You’re just as likely to spot a trendy coffee shop as you are a boutique filled with handmade goods or locally designed art.

The air had that cool coastal breeze you only get near the water, and everything just felt… calm. Peaceful. Inviting. Whether you're strolling past an ivy-covered pub or admiring the way sunlight filters through the trees overhead, it’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and savor every step.
Dinner with a View: Top of Vancouver
For dinner, we treated ourselves to one of the coolest dining experiences ever: Top of Vancouver, a rotating restaurant perched high above the city. As we dined, the entire restaurant slowly turned, offering 360-degree panoramic views of Vancouver’s skyline, waterfront, and mountains. The movement was so smooth, you barely noticed it — until you realized you were suddenly facing a whole new view.
We started with the lobster bisque, which came in a portion big enough to share. Rich, flavorful, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. For my entrée, I had a penne pasta with eggplant and veggies — light, delicious, and massive. I barely made it through a third of the plate. We capped off the meal with a classic crème brûlée, and it was every bit as creamy and crackly as you’d hope.
Between the food and the views, it was one of those dinners you don’t forget.
Morning Sips at Waves Café
Before boarding our cruise the next morning, we found the perfect little café to wind down and fuel up: Waves. Known for its locally sourced coffee and elevated food menu, it was a cozy spot with a great energy. I ordered the Iced Rooibos Tea, shaken with raspberry flavor, and it was the perfect morning sipper, refreshing, subtly sweet, and exactly what I needed to start the day.

Final Thoughts: A City I Can’t Wait to Revisit
Even though we only had one night in Vancouver, it gave us a full day of delicious food, stunning views, and unforgettable moments. It’s a city that feels effortlessly cool and welcoming, and next time, I’ll definitely be staying longer.
Until then, thank you Vancouver, for the taste of something truly boundless.
