After seeing The Lion King on Broadway, I was completely hooked. The costumes, the energy, the way it brings childhood favorites to life, it all left me wanting more. So naturally, Aladdin was next on my list. And with Jasmine being my all-time favorite princess, I couldn’t wait to see her soar across the stage.

Spoiler alert: she did not disappoint.

From the glittering costumes to the unforgettable songs we all grew up singing (A Whole New World, anyone?), Aladdin was pure Broadway magic. The production was stunning. The kind of visual spectacle that makes you feel like a kid again, wide-eyed and enchanted. Jasmine was graceful, strong, and dreamy in every scene, and Aladdin’s charm was off the charts.

But the real star of the show? Without a doubt: James Monroe Iglehart as Genie.

He absolutely stole the spotlight. From the second he appeared, the entire energy of the room shifted. Not only was he hilarious, charismatic, and completely in command of the stage, but he also broke the fourth wall several times, going off script and riffing with the crowd in a way that had the entire theater erupting with laughter.

At one point, the audience was laughing so hard that the cast literally had to pause the show. And watching the other actors trying not to break character? Priceless. It was one of those moments that reminded me exactly why I love live theater, because no two performances are ever the same, and sometimes the most unexpected moments become the most unforgettable.

It felt personal. Playful. Like the Genie had granted us all a wish to just let go and laugh.

If you’re heading to Broadway and looking for a show that blends nostalgia with nonstop entertainment, Aladdin is an absolute must. It’s vibrant, heartfelt, and full of those little magical surprises that remind you why Disney stories live on, not just in our memories, but in the spotlight.
