M3GAN 2.0: More Action, Less Horror, But Still Serving Sass

When the first M3GAN hit theaters, it felt like a breath of fresh (and slightly creepy) air, equal parts campy horror, sharp satire, and that unforgettable dance sequence that basically broke the internet. So naturally, I was hyped for M3GAN 2.0. But while our favorite AI doll is still serving killer looks and savage one-liners, the sequel left me feeling a little...underwhelmed.

Let’s start with the good: M3GAN is still that girl. Her personality? Iconic. Her fashion? Evolved. Her sass? Sharper than ever. And honestly, the story itself is solid. The film expands on the world we saw in the first installment, giving us deeper insight into the tech behind her, and yes, some of the kills are creative enough to make you flinch.

But here’s the thing. M3GAN 2.0 leans way more into action than horror. Gone are the suspenseful build-ups and eerie silences that made the first movie a horror fan favorite. Instead, this felt more like a high-tech thriller with some spooky seasoning. Don’t get me wrong, it’s entertaining, but if you were hoping for that creepy, skin-crawling energy from round one, you might be a little let down.

Also, some parts were just…predictable. Like, I could see certain twists coming from a mile away, and not in a fun “I guessed it!” way. More like a “yup, called that from the beginning” kind of way.

Bottom line. M3GAN 2.0 is worth watching for M3GAN’s personality alone. She still commands every scene she's in, and I’ll never say no to another round of her robotic reign. But if you’re here for true horror vibes, just temper your expectations. She's still boundless, but this time, a little less bone-chilling.
