Clocked In with Flavor Flav: My Wild First Trip to Las Vegas

Las Vegas had somehow remained unchecked on my travel list… until now. When Raising Cane’s invited me out to Vegas for a special media event featuring none other than Flavor Flav, I didn’t even hesitate. It would be my very first time in the city, and if you’re going to do Vegas for the first time, you might as well do it big. And trust me… this trip delivered.
Checking Into the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas
Raising Cane’s booked my stay at the stunning Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas, and from the moment I walked in, I knew this wasn’t going to be an average trip. I landed pretty late that first night, so instead of running straight to the Strip, I decided to allow myself to do something I rarely do when traveling: I stayed in. I ordered room service, put on my comfy pajamas, and watched some TV, and honestly, it was perfect.

The next morning, I woke up early and made my way to see the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign. Standing there, looking at that sign for the very first time, felt surreal. I’ve seen it in movies, on TV, in music videos, and now I was actually there. First Vegas trip. Media credentials in my bag. Raising Cane’s event on the schedule. Not a bad way to start the day.
Flavor Flav Clocks In at Raising Cane’s
Now for the main reason for the trip. Flavor Flav was working a “shift” at Raising Cane’s Las Vegas ahead of the brand’s new Flavor Fast campaign, and yes, he brought the energy. The hip-hop legend turned pop culture icon interacted with fans, stepped behind the counter, and brought his iconic charisma (and "Yeah Boi!") to the event.

But before the cameras even started rolling, Flavor Flav did something that completely caught me off guard, in the best way. He made it a point to walk around and introduce himself to every single member of the media. He shook hands, made eye contact, and had real conversations. Not rushed. Not forced. Just genuinely kind. In an industry where things can move fast and feel transactional, that moment really stuck with me. He didn’t have to do that, but he did.
And after everything wrapped, he stayed to meet fans, take photos, and chat with people who were clearly so excited to see him. You could tell he understood what those moments meant to them. For someone who’s been in the spotlight for decades, he was incredibly down-to-earth.

My Hell’s Kitchen Burger Moment at Gordon Ramsay Burger
After the event wrapped, I headed to Gordon Ramsay Burger for dinner. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m pescatarian, so I opted for the plant-based patty version of the Hell’s Kitchen Burger. It came stacked with asadero cheese, roasted jalapeños, avocado, roasted tomatoes, jalapeño aïoli. And let me tell you… it did not feel like I was compromising. It was flavorful, indulgent, and the perfect way to refuel after a high-energy media day. Vegas dining did not disappoint.
A Sweet Vegas Victory at The Chocolate Bar
Because it’s Vegas… I had to try my luck. I played a few slots and somehow walked away $100 up. On my walk back to the hotel, I passed The Chocolate Bar, located next to Hershey's Chocolate World Las Vegas.

The name alone pulled me in. The Chocolate Bar specializes in classic and specialty cocktails inspired by your favorite treats, and I ordered the Reese’s Martini. I still think about that drink.
Vegas exceeded every expectation. And for my first time ever in the city, it felt like the perfect introduction. Something tells me this won’t be my last Vegas story.
